Final Draft VS Rough Draft
for this project, wanted to go with the general idea of being stuck inside while looking at the outside. I initially wanted to do a project where people were fighting a “2020” or with someone being trapped inside watching other people fight a “2020,” but I couldn’t find the right cutouts to do this. I also wanted to use a glass panel instead of jail bars, but I couldn’t find one that wouldn’t completely censor what was going on outside. This was what prompted me to switch to jail bars.
Due to the limited number of cutouts of people fighting, I decided to stick with the theme of “Stuck Inside, Looking Out” since there was enough material that I could find that would allow me to make that. The cutouts didn’t require much alterations after being cut out in Adobe Express, but I added a gradient to the jail bars in order to darken them and have them blend in better with the rest of the project.
And instead of people fighting, I decided to use a background of a somewhat barren wasteland. This was meant to represent the current state of the world during 2020. Society as a whole had seemingly collapsed as a result of the pandemic, and other events, such as the riots, the arrival of murder hornets and the California wildfires, followed suit. 2020 is written in the clouds, since it felt like the most natural way to include “2020” in the project itself without making it stick out too much.
The 2020 clouds also have a gradient on them, in order to blend them with the sky. I used a dark blue gradient for it with a different opacity, so that the clouds would still be visible and match with the clouds in my chosen background photo.
